This Thursday Imagine Homes Realty Brokers will be answering your texts, sending off emails and answering your calls from Olympia, WA. Why you may ask, since we List and Sell property here in Clark County and SW Washington, are we headed to The Hill? Exactly because we List and Sell in SW Washington. We are going to Olympia to help protect YOU and your property rights and your tax advantage as Property Owners. We will tell our elected officials that:
We will support – Reforms to Increase Housing and Land Supply
• The lack of housing supply at all income levels is a significant problem throughout Washington State. The lack of housing is also a cause of the worsening homelessness crisis that is no longer limited to urban centers. REALTORS® support legislation that improves the state’s Growth Management Act to ensure adequate land and housing supply, and provides reliable funding to address homelessness and low-income housing needs.
We will support – Ensuring Rural Water Supply for New Homes
• The Supreme Court’s recent Hirst decision regarding the Growth Management Act eliminates the use of small wells for new homes in many counties – even though the water code and Ecology’s water regulations allow for such wells. Thousands of properties are now unbuildable, creating financial disaster for property owners and adding to our state’s housing shortage. REALTORS® support legislation that will provide adequate water supply in rural areas.
We oppose – A Tax on Income from Capital Gains
• Governor Inslee has proposed a 7.9% tax on income from capital gains, including all real estate except for single family dwellings. While most sources of retirement income would be exempt, real estate is not, even though real estate is a major source of retirement or college savings for many families. Washington already taxes all real estate transfers at one of the highest rates in the nation, based on the entire sales price – not just the gain.
Imagine Homes Realty will be your advocate and voice as we serve your Real Estate needs from Olympia on Thursday because Home Ownership matters to our clients, to our communities and to SW Washington.
